The eighth grade class of Wyoming Area Catholic School recently attended a Junior Achievement Program called Finance Park, which was held at the Junior Achievement Mericle Family Center for Enterprise Education Center in Pittston. Since September, the students having been guided through the concepts of income, saving and investing, debit and credit, and budget. Through a real life simulation, the students were assigned a life scenario. Throughout the simulation students had to calculate their net monthly income using federal and income taxes and Social Security and Medicare deductions. Equipped with their net monthly income information, the students then set a budget that meets the needs and requirements of their life scenario. Their life scenario included making shopping decisions, paying bills and investing in stocks.
