Members and friends of the Falls Active Adult Center, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne/Wyoming counties, recently celebrated a Western Day. Adult Center

Falls Active Adult Center, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne/Wyoming counties, offers the following weekly activities:

Mondays: Nutrition talks at lunch, bingo following lunch.

Tuesdays: Shuffleboard 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Craft club meets 10:30 a.m. to noon, brain games at lunch and Geri-Fit from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

Wednesdays: Women’s coffee club from 10 to 11:45 a.m.

Thursdays: Men’s coffee club from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Bingo following lunch.

Fridays: Geocaching activity, 9:30 a.m. to noon and Geri-Fit from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

The following special activities also are planned:

Monday, Aug. 6, book club meets from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Lunch and Learn is at 12:15 p.m. with Rachael Wydra, RN, from the Pennsylvania Department of Health discussing “Hidden Sugar in Your Food”

Tuesday, Aug. 7, craft club meets from 10 a.m. to noon.

Thursday, Aug. 9, men’s coffee club meets from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. Denise Culver from Northeast Sight Services will be at the center at 11 a.m. to do glaucoma screening. At 12:15 p.m., she will discuss “Making Vision a Healthy Priority.” Special Hawaiian Day luncheon will be held.

Tuesday, Aug. 14, center closes at 11 a.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. a staff member from state Rep. Karen Boback’s office will answer any state related questions

Thursday, Aug. 16, Lunch and Learn will be held at 12:15 p.m. with Mary Reeves, LSW, from the Gardens at Tunkhannock will discuss “Atrial Fib, Not a Lie”

Friday, Aug. 17, Mobile Food Pantry will be at the center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. This is a need based program open to any age. The bank is open to anyone in Wyoming County but it is limited to the Harding and Exeter areas of Luzerne County.

Thursday, Aug. 23, blood pressure screening by a nurse from the Meadows will be held at 12:30 p.m. followed by bingo at 1 p.m. sponsored by the Meadows.

Friday, Aug. 24, at 11a.m. there will be a special recognition program for firefighters, EMS workers and police. The late Bryon Dickson, who lost his life in the line of duty, will be honored. The public is invited to this special program.

Anyone wishing to visit the center for a meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over, should RSVP to Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

Falls Active Adult Center, located on SR 92, Exeter Twp., is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
