Wyoming Area’s scholarship website is updated and seniors and their parents are urged to look at it and begin planning their scholarship applications for 2021.
There are nearly 100 local awards available for seniors to select from through this scholarship program.
To access the scholarship information, visit wyomingarea.org and look to the left and scroll down to click on “scholarships” to get different options to pop up. Students are encouraged to click on all of these options and to read over the contents carefully to find out exactly what must be done to apply. The site has been updated and is easy to use.
Students should make a list of scholarships they plan on applying for and keep checking back for new additions to the scholarship list. New scholarships appear as soon as they are developed and are added often, including four new scholarships that are being developed at this time and are not yet on the website.
Scholarship organizers suggest seniors speak with Wyoming Area graduates who have successfully applied for awards through this program. They can be a useful resource. Students also can communicate directly with the two program chairs, Rosella Fedor and Juel Anne Klepadlo.
Most of the work on the program this year will be virtual, by phone, text and email. These methods were used very successfully this past year after the shut down due to the pandemic, evidenced by the $285,000 that was awarded to 63 members of the WA Class of 2020 and seven Wyoming Area graduates still attending Wilkes University through this program.
Donors have been extremely generous toward this scholarship program, which is now in its 12th year. Donors often award more money than initially planned and also select more recipients than originally planned, according to organizers.
All donors select the recipients for their awards.
