Pittston Area School District, in partnership with The Wright Center for Community Health, will host a back-to-school vaccine clinic from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Pittston Area’s Martin F. Quinn Primary Center, 210 Rock St., Hughestown. The clinic is for students in kindergarten through 12th grade who have not received their vaccines.
Before entering kindergarten, Pennsylvania requires all students to have the hepatitis B series, DTaP series, measles, mumps and rubella series, varicella series and polio series.
Before entering seventh grade, all Pennsylvania students must have a Tdap booster and meningitis vaccine at age 11.
Before entering 12th grade, students must have a meningitis booster, which is given after their 16th birthday.
HPV series and annual influenza vaccines also are recommended.
A parent or legal guardian must be present at the vaccine clinic to give consent. Also, a copy of the student’s immunization record and the student’s insurance card must be presented at the clinic. All insurances will be accepted at the clinic. Those without medical insurance will receive any needed vaccines free of charge, in partnership with Vaccines for Children.
