Pittston Mayor Michael Lombardo and 50th Anniversary Committee member Herman Castellani place a wreath at the base of the Christopher Columbus statue at the 50th Anniversery and Rededication of the statue in Downtown Pittston. The event featured a parade up South Main Street prior to the event the wreath laying ceremony as well as a dinner following.The event featured comments Councilman Danny Argo , Mayor Michael Lombardo Congressman Matt Cartwright and 50th Anniversary Committee member James Deice who urged the crowd to always be proud of their Italian Heritage. cv14columbus2 DAVE SCHERBENCO/CITIZENS VOICE

Pittston held its annual Columbus Day Parade on Sunday, Oct. 13. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the statue being moved to its current location at Columbus Avenue and South Main Street. The anniversary celebration included a parade, a ceremony at the statue and a dinner.
