Pittston Arts Council Board of Directors President Judy Greenwald submitted an essay/presentation to the Pennsylvania Art Education Conference for 2018. Of the thousands of submittals, Greenwald’s presentation, “Creating a Community Mural with an Artist in Residence,” was one selected for the state conference. The piece can be seen on top of the YMCA building and also was used to create postcards and T-shirts, which were sold at the Pittston Tomato Festival. Qualification for the state conference afforded Greenwald the opportunity to submit for the national level and she was accepted for the 2019 NAEA National Convention Call for Presentations, which will be held in Boston in March. NAEA received more than 1,700 proposals this year. Selection was based on a blind peer review, with only 763 sessions, or approximately 35 percent of submissions, being accepted.
