When the Hon. James A. Musto Solarium opened on the campus of the Pittston Area High School in Yatesville a few decades ago, a sign was erected noting the facility was named after the longtime state representative of the Pittston area. Since then, the sign for the solarium, also known as the greenhouse, has fallen into disrepair. This year, the art department and the industrial arts department at the high school took on the project of refurbishing the painted wooden sign. With the help of state Rep. Mike Carroll in acquiring the decal of the State Seal of Pennsylvania, art teacher Judith Greenwald and industrial arts teacher Frank Victor were able to bring the sign back to its former glory. Recently, the Musto family, Rep. Carroll and school personnel were able to unveil the redone sign. With the refurbished sign, first row, from left, are state Rep. Mike Carroll, Fran Musto-Drozda, Gertrude Musto, Anita Panzetta, Frances Musto, Santino Saporito, the Hon. Joseph Musto, Mary Claire Gallagher, Mary Musto and Judy Greenwald. Second row: Dr. John Haas, high school principal; Ray Anthony Musto Jr., Ray A. Musto, Jessica Musto Howell, Biagio Musto, Jacqueline Gallagher, Sal Bernardi and Michelle Musto Bernardi. Frank Victor, industrial arts teacher, also took part in the sign rededication.
