Pittston Area Intermediate Center recently created an honor wall to showcase veterans and their service. Students and teachers submitted photos of family members who have proudly served the country. The photos were collected and displayed in the school’s lobby as a daily inspirational reminder of honor, dedication and gratitude. The honor wall inspired the school to take part in Operation Christmas Card, a program that sends Christmas cards to veterans in veterans’ hospitals across the United States as well as veterans serving overseas. The intermediate students have been very busy creating Christmas cards, and teachers and students from the primary center and middle school have joined the intermediate students in sending messages of love and gratitude to veterans. The community also has gotten involved and has begun sending in cards, as well. The school thanks the Pittston Area family, Wyoming Area Catholic Kiwanis K-Kids Club, ABC Kiddie Kampus, Exeter Cub Scout Pack 310, Exeter Boy Scouts Troop 311, CINTAS, Joan Harris Dance Studio and Wyoming Area High School students for contributing to the project. Together, more than 3,750 cards have been collected. Above is the honor wall at the intermediate center. At right, are some of the students who participated in Operation Christmas Card.
