The Miss Nina Foundation raised money in memory of Devon “The Defender” Silva to purchase either a winter coat or a pair of shoes for every student in the third-grade class at Wyoming Area School District. Silva passed away at age 32 on Dec. 19, 2017. “Family and friends, that were closest to Devon, knew he had a big heart and was very generous. This fundraiser reflects his character and his desire to help others,” foundation officials said in a press release. The nonprofit organization also plans to use funds raised to provide a day of fun in May at a local amusement park for less fortunate Wyoming Area third-grade students.
