St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre was the setting for the marriage of Megan Elizabeth Sweeney to Joseph Raymond Rovelli Jr. on June 16, 2018. The ceremony was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Sirba.

Megan was escorted down the aisle by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Tony Wozinski was the organist and Joelle DeLuca and Tom Zurla were soloists.

Megan is the daughter of Michael and Marie Sweeney, Plains Twp. She is the granddaughter of Donald and Mary Elizabeth Cruise, Jenkins Twp., and Maureen Sweeney and the late John D. Sweeney, Wilkes-Barre.

Joseph is the son of Grace Rovelli, Kingston, and Joseph and Michelle Rovelli, Warrior Run. He is the grandson of Denise Herckenrath, Warrior Run, and the late Anna Deutsch, Joseph J. Rovelli, and Walter Herckenrath.

Megan chose her sisters, Molly and Melanie, as her maids of honor. Debra Rovelli, sister of the groom; Kristen O’Brien, Tanya Charnichko Zambetti and Sarah Roos, all friends of the bride, were bridesmaids. Joseph chose his brothers, William and Nicholas Rovelli, as his best men. Groomsmen included Christopher Rovelli, brother of the groom; Timothy Ault, Anthony Conte, and Michael Conte, cousins of the groom.

Megan is a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from King’s College. She is employed as a teacher by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

Joseph is a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University. He is employed by Wyoming Seminary as director of financial aid and assistant wrestling coach.

The bride was honored at a bridal shower hosted by her mother and bridesmaids at Appletree Terrace. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride’s sister at Brews Brothers.

A cocktail hour and wedding reception followed the ceremony at The Woodland’s Inn and Resort.

The couple honeymooned on the islands of Oahu and Kauai, Hawaii. They reside in Exeter with their dog, Champ.
