A wreath adorns the monument commemorating the 1959 Knox Mine Disaster on the property of Baloga Funeral Home, Pittston. Due to COVID-19, with the exception of the memorial Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, all programs for Anthracite Mining Heritage Month in January are being held virtually. A wreath was placed on the monument Jan. 17 with no ceremony. Find mining heritage events at ahfdn.org.
