Pittston Twp. Ambulance Association has officially ended its membership drive and would like to thank everyone who participated.

Now, it is hosting a fundraiser that is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. The PTAA is hosting a fundraiser through the AmazonSmile Foundation website. Smile.Amazon.com is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same selection of products as Amazon.com, the only difference is that when you shop at Smile.Amazon.com, the AmazonSmile Foundation donates a small percentage of your purchase price on eligible items to a charitable organization such as the PTAA.

To participate, go to Smile.Amazon.com, log in with your Amazon username and password, in the search bar type in Pittston Township Ambulance Association, the name will appear and the year it started, 1977. Once you’ve selected it, the website will redirect you to Amazon.com where you go about your normal shopping.

The PTAA greatly appreciates the support and would like to thank people in advance for participating.

The Ambulance Association would also like to let residents know they are hosting a “What to do in an emergency” public training course. It will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at the ambulance station, 24 Bryden St., Pittston Twp. The session will run for approximately one hour and is open to the public. Topics will be discussed such as how to identify an emergency, personal safety, when to call 911, basic first aid, hands only CPR instruction and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator or AED.

This is a non-certification training course and is free of charge for anyone to attend, but pre-registration is required as class size is limited. Register by calling the PTAA at 570-654-4717 or by email: info@pittstontownshipems.com

Also, there are still two seats open on the ambulance board of directors. The search will continue until 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, when applications will be reviewed by a committee, with a recommendation being presented before the existing board for vote. The new board members will not be seated until the September meeting.

Duties include attending monthly board meetings, reviewing emergency services information, providing input and voting on business related issues. Board members do not respond to 911 calls. Anyone interested may send a letter of interest or resume to 24 Bryden St., Pittston Twp. or call the PTAA at 570-654-4717 or email at info@pittstontownshipems.com.
