Jenkins Twp. reminds residents the landlord/tenant registration forms are past due.
The township recently passed Ordinance No. 003 of 2018, requiring all landlords to file reports listing all rentable units, tenants or occupiers and any change requiring occupancy permits and inspections of all rental units prior to occupancy.
The township sent out letters to explain the ordinance in detail. All landlords or owners were required to fill out the registration form and submit the fee. Second notices are being sent out to those who have not done so. Submit forms and payment to the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Office or at www.jenkinstownship.net. If you have any questions, please call the municipal building at 570-654-3315 between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Due to paving, Old Mill Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, and Tuesday Nov. 6.
The Yatesville Road bridge on Stout Street has officially opened back up as of Oct. 30.
Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 6, due to Election Day and Monday, Nov. 12, due to Veterans Day.
The township is now selling hats. They come in purple and yellow and for $10 you may own one. If you would like to purchase one, you may pick it up between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the municipal building 46½ Main St., Inkerman.
The zoning and building department reminds anyone making improvements and additions that they must obtain proper permits. Call 570-654-3315 for information.
The 2018 Pittston Area school tax bills are in face value for payment until Nov. 30.
The tax office at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building, 46½ Main St., will now be open from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays. Special arrangements may be made by calling Jenkins Twp. Tax Collector Jean Mudlock at 570-654-9710. Payments can be sent anytime in the mail or dropped off at 3 Laflin Road. The postmark will be accepted as payment date. If a receipt is required, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with payment.
Pittston Twp. Tax Collector Rita Timonte will now have office hours from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays at her home office, 12 E. Oak St. Appointments also may be made by calling 570-654-8807.
If you are a new property owner and have not yet received your bill or if you received a bill in error, please contact your tax collector.
Jenkins yard waste
Jenkins Twp. yard waste is picked up every Thursday.
Yard waste bins are on sale for $11 each. Residents are reminded to put yard waste in the appropriate containers. Containers must have perforations on the bottom, handles on each side and cannot have a lid on top. They may not have rims on the top, wheels on the bottom, or exceed 20 gallons. Filled containers cannot weigh more than 30 pounds.
If there are branches in the container, they must not be more than 3 feet long, and they must be bundled and tied for manageable pickup.

Company fund drive
Jenkins Twp. Volunteer Hose Company is conducting its 2018 fundraising drive.
Approximately 70 percent of the hose company’s operating budget is supported by donations from Jenkins Twp. and Yatesville residents and businesses. It is through these donations that the volunteer department is able to continue operations.
If you have not received a fund drive mailer, please contact the Jenkins Twp. Volunteer Hose Company at 570-655-5045 and leave your name and address.

Jenkins Twp. Senior Citizens Organization meets the third Tuesday of each month, with some exceptions. The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Jenkins Twp. Hose Company, 2 Second St.

Jenkins Crime Watch
The next Jenkins Twp. Crime Watch meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman.
Pittston Twp. refuse and
Pittston Twp.’s refuse permit and garbage bag sale has concluded. Anyone who hasn’t purchased a permit should contact the municipal building at 570-654-0161.
Garbage collection days are Friday of each week for all of Pittston Twp.
Recycling days will continue to be Friday of alternating weeks.
Pittston Twp. reminds its residents that no one, under any circumstances, may dispose of electronic devices or their components, with their municipal solid waste.
Electronics include: desktop computers, laptop computers, video game consoles, microwave ovens and especially televisions.

Pittston Twp. sewer bills
Pittston Twp. Sewer Authority reminds residents the sewer bills can now be paid by calling 877-830-0596.
Residents also are reminded they must obtain a sewer permit before starting to excavate for connection to the new sewer main.
Furthermore, the $1,432 tap-in and connection fee must be paid in full. Office hours are 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.
