The Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance Board of Directors has been notified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council, that they have won the 2019 EMS Agency of the Year Award — Large Volume Service.

The award honors a Pennsylvania EMS agency for its contribution to the development and growth of quality pre-hospital care within its community.

According to the board, this award recognizes the superior care the ambulance provides on a daily basis within the communities it serves, including Jenkins Twp., Pittston City, Yatesville, Exeter and Wyoming.

GPRA is a non-profit community based EMS agency with headquarters in downtown Pittston.

“We are thrilled that the state has bestowed this award on our agency in recognition of our efforts to provide our communities with the same level of emergency care that they could expect in more advanced metropolitan areas around the country,” the ambulance board of directors said in a statement.

The award will be presented at the 42nd annual Pennsylvania State EMS Conference on Thursday, Sept. 5, in Manheim. Many members of the organization will be there to accept the award.
