Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently put together 320 boxes for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program at the Weinberg Regional Food Bank in Pittston. The food bank’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program helps more than 2,000 seniors have access to additional food each month. The boxes are assembled at the food bank using food provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and then delivered to more than 100 sites across Luzerne, Lackawanna, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties. Five of the sites fall in the Greater Pittston area. CEO relies on the help of its volunteer force to pack each box throughout the year, providing a great opportunity to anyone looking to help fight hunger in their community.
