Falls Active Adult Center

Falls Active Adult Center, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne/Wyoming Counties, announced cards, games and puzzles are available daily, and trivia is played Wednesdays during lunch. Craft club meets from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays. Men’s coffee club meets from 10 a.m. to noon. Tuesdays. Book club normally meets at 10:30 a.m. the first Monday of each month.

Upcoming events

Tuesday, Aug. 23, and Thursday, Aug. 25, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., an Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program will be held with Donna Fetzko.

Friday, Aug. 26, there will be an end of summer ice cream social during lunch.

Monday, Aug. 29, at 2:15 p.m., there will be a Lunch & Learn program with Rachel Wydra, RN, BSN, from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, who will present “Understanding Depression.”

The center, at 2813 Sullivan Trail, is open 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Anyone wishing to visit for a meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over can contact Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before to RSVP.

Book club selections

The book club announced the following upcoming selections: Sept. 12, “The Lost Child of Philomena Lee” by Martin Sixsmith; Oct. 3, “Night Road” by Kristin Hannah; Nov. 7, “The Mighty Queens of Freeville” by Amy Dickinson; and Dec. 5, “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern.
