West Wyoming Borough residents are reminded County Waste will be the municipal contractor for trash, curbside recycling, yard waste and bulk pickup starting February 2018. The borough also will be starting curbside recycling.
Each household will receive two containers: one container for trash and one for curbside recycling. Collection will remain Mondays for trash and curbside recycling. The borough encourages residents to recycle. This will not only help the environment, but also lower the borough’s refuse tonnage, thereby controlling costs. Plastic, aluminum, tin, glass, paper and cardboard can be placed in the recycling container. Ash also can be placed in the recycling container, as long as it is not hot.
The recycling area next to the borough DPW building will be closing.
Residents may call County Waste at 1-800-832-1332 about any issues with the containers or collection.

Late payments made after May 15 will be $250, no exceptions.
Vacant properties are not exempt from the garbage fee. Rental property owners are reminded the property owner is responsible for payment of trash fees, not the tenant.

Exeter sanitation fee
Exeter Borough announced refuse stickers went on sale in December at the borough building.
Price of the sticker is $180. Senior citizens 65 and older will pay $130. There is a rebate price of $150 for regular and $110 for seniors for those purchasing stickers by Feb. 28. Stickers must be purchased by March 31 to avoid a penalty.
Stickers can be purchased at the Exeter Borough Town Hall, 1101 Wyoming Ave., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. There also will be evening hours from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays in February. You also can send for a sticker by mail by sending a check or money order to Exeter Borough Refuse, 1101 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, PA 18643.
For information, call Lynda at 570-654-3001, ext. 2.
Exeter now has single stream recycling. Recycling will still be collected Mondays. All recyclables can now be placed in the same container and placed out weekly.
A flyer is in the white rural mailbox in front of the borough building with a list of what can and cannot be put out. Everything on the calendar is still recyclable, with the exception of shredded paper. Also, items are on the new list that weren’t picked up before.
Yard waste will still be collected Thursdays. Regular garbage is still collected Wednesdays.
Please do not use the yellow recycling bins for garbage. Place bags in regular garbage cans. There is a three-bag limit no matter what size the bag is, as long as it is less than 30 pounds. Do not place several small bags in your garbage can. Condense them into a larger bag. Placing the garbage in a refuse can reduces the likelihood of an animal opening it. If animals do open your garbage, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to clean it up.
Refuse, recyclables and yard waste are to be placed curbside the night before pick up or by 6 a.m. the morning of collection.
For information, call Lynda at 570-654-3001, ext. 2 or Karen at 570-654-0933.
