Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the crew from Germania Hose Company has a great one planned for our community. Germania Hose Company will have its annual all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday, Feb. 17, at the hose company, 430 Foote Ave. The menu includes sausage, ham, home fries, eggs, pancakes, rolls, desserts, coffee and juice.

Tickets, which are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger, can be purchased at the door or from any member.

Later in the day, stop by the American Legion Post 585 for boneless chicken bites. The Duryea Sons of the American Legion Post 585 will have a boneless chicken bites sale from noon to 6 p.m., or sold out, Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Brennan Regan post home, 329 Main St.

Orders, which are $8 each, are available in mild, hot, butter garlic, mild garlic, hot garlic and barbecue and include blue cheese and celery. Take outs are available too. Pre-orders will not be accepted.

Tax reminder

Duryea Borough Tax Collector Martin Hanczyc announces the Luzerne County/Duryea Borough tax bills can be paid from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Duryea Municipal Building, 315 Main St.

If you are mailing your tax payment and need a receipt, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and the complete bill. Also, write your phone number on the bill in case Mr. Hanczyc needs to reach you.

If you did not receive your tax bill, please call 570-457-2482. Bills are sent directly to taxpayers by the county.

Little League registration

Registration is open for the newly expanded Greater Pittston Little League at gplittleleague.com. The fees for the newly formed league are free for T-ball, ages 4-6; coach pitch, $45, ages 6-9; minors, $75, ages 8-10, and majors, $75, ages 9-12. There is a $110 sibling maximum.

Any child who lives or attends school in Avoca, Dupont, Duryea or Pittston City is eligible to play for Greater Pittston Area Little League.

Polish Union meeting

Polish National Union of America Branch 309 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, in St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church hall, 200 Stephenson St.

Members will elect delegates from the branch to attend the upcoming convention in September. This year’s convention will be held at sea, traveling to the Western Caribbean. All interested branch members are encouraged to attend.

St. Mary’s breakfast

St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church will have a pre-Lenten breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 3, in the parish hall, 200 Stephenson St. The menu will feature eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, rolls with butter, juice and a beverage. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Take out meals will be available, too. To order tickets, please call 570-457-2291. Please note, there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door.

Excelsior Night at the Races

Excelsior Hose Company No. 2 will host its annual Night at the Races on Saturday, March 30, at Germania Hose Company, 430 Foote Ave.

Police tip line

Duryea Police Department has established a tip line. This line allows individuals to anonymously provide the Duryea Police Department with information about a crime, criminal activity, drug activity or information related to open investigations. Callers are asked to leave as much detailed information as possible such as locations, dates, descriptions of person or vehicle and type of activity you are reporting. To make a report, call 1-833-373-8477 or 1-833-DPD-TIPS.

Recovery meetings

SMART Recovery will meet from 5:45 to 7 p.m. weekly on Mondays at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Hall, (formerly Sacred Heart Hall), 529 Stephenson St. SMART Recovery’s 4-point Program, based on CBT, supports anyone seeking change.

Al-Anon meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Brick United Methodist Church, 935 Foote Ave. This is an anonymous 12-step program of recovery for families and friends of addicts and alcoholics.

Happy birthday

Happy birthday to Chrissy Ryzner Wastradowski, who will celebrate her special day Feb. 14, and to Joe Demich, who will celebrate his special day Feb. 15.
