Spring cleaning usually takes place in April and May, but why not put your polishing skills to the test this week for a profit? Shine up your unwanted treasures and sell them to the guests attending the Duryea Community Yard Sale.
Duryea Betterment Committee will sponsor the town-wide Duryea Community Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.
Interested sellers can participate in two different ways. On the day of the event, residents can have a yard sale at their residence. Or, if they would prefer not to have a sale at their home, residents may rent an 8-by-2 foot space at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, 200 Stephenson St., for $10. Vendors and crafters are welcome. Please note, space at the church is limited. There also will be food and beverages for sale, as well as a bake sale at the church. Please contact the church at 570-457-2291 to reserve a sales space.
Residents who choose to have the sale at their home must have a permit. Permits, which are free and will be mailed to you, can be obtained by calling Duryea Borough Manager Carolyn Santee at 570-655-2829 during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Permits also can be obtained by calling Lois Hanczyc at 570-457-2482.
Maps of the sale locations will be available at the Duryea Municipal Building, 315 Main St., at various Duryea businesses and on the Duryea Betterment Committee Facebook page.
