Above, Polish words included on the harvest wreath are part of the motto of the Polish National Catholic Church: ‘With truth, work, fight we shall prevail.’ Prawda is the Polish word for truth, praca means work, walka means fight and zwyciezymy means to prevail. Dozynki is the Polish word for harvest and is where the annual Dozynki Festival at Holy Mother of Sorrows Church gets its name. At left are some of the items included on the wreath.

Holy Mother of Sorrows held its annual flea market Sept. 7 and 43rd annual Dozynki Festival on Sept. 8 on the parish grounds. Homemade Polish foods were served both days. The traditional blessing of the harvest wreath was held Sept. 8, followed by live polka music, a bake sale, theme baskets and more homemade Polish foods.
