The Downtown Pittston Partnership has posted photos from its holiday decorating contest on its Facebook page. There are 18 photos of 18 different houses available to view and vote on for the People’s Choice Award.
All you have to do is like the photo of your favorite house and the one with the most likes will win. Voting ends Sunday, Dec. 13, and the winner will be announced at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 on the partnership’s Facebook page.
The Greater Pittston YMCA’s fitness schedule has changed for December. The Pittston Water Aerobics schedule is now from 11:15 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. These classes are free to those 50 years and older, thanks to AAA.
Pickleball has returned to the Y. You can join for open play from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Saturday. There will be no pickleball play Saturday, Dec. 12.
Pickleball is currently limited to members only, so you must have an active membership with the Greater Pittston YMCA or the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA in order to enjoy this program.
Paddles are available for use by members and disinfecting supplies are available.
Masks are required for the entire duration of your visit and it is requested that anyone who is feeling ill or who may have been recently exposed to COVID-19 to please stay home.
Pittston Memorial Library is hosting a virtual STEAM Club event at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17. The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Club, is for kindergarten to fifth grade students and can be accessed on the library’s Facebook page. During this program, students will be making candy canes using beads and pipe cleaners. They will be using the candy canes to spell out the word ‘JOY’ in binary code. Participants will need red pipe cleaners, 12 red pony beads, 12 white pony beads, 2 gold pony beads and scissors to cut the pipe cleaners. The video will premiere on Facebook and YouTube at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17. Supplies are included in the same bag as the Hands On Craft Club. They will be out for porch pickup while supplies last.
Porch Pickup is available from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays.
