With summer now beginning to look a little further away in our rear-view mirrors, it’s a good time to keep our eyes on the road ahead. As the hustle and bustle of the summer months wanes, I’m sure many of us will begin to turn our attention to the holiday months that, believe or not, are looming right around the corner. Many of our local groups will be hosting fundraisers for themselves and others, offering the ability to begin participating in the many charitable efforts of the season ahead.
From noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, the Jenkins Twp. Lions Club will host its annual ham dinner fundraiser at the Jenkins Twp. Hose Company, 2 Second St. This take-out only meal will cost $12 and includes ham with pineapple, scalloped potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, coleslaw, rolls and cake.
Pre-paid registrations are strongly encouraged and greatly appreciated.
Payments and reservations are due to the Lions Club by Thursday, Oct. 7. Along with the dinner, the club will be accepting donations of canned goods and food items at this event. All goods collected will benefit the Greater Pittston Food Pantry located at the Care and Concern Ministries at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Pittston. The Lions Club asks anyone with questions to contact Virginia at 570-655-3538.
Jenkins Twp. Lions Club also extends an incredibly grateful “thank you!” to all who supported the club’s annual coin-drop fundraiser last weekend at the Eight Street Bridge. It was a great success! The funds raised will be put aside to benefit recipients of the Lions Club’s annual scholarship awards.
