December is here and that means something very special is about to happen — Santa Claus is coming to town! No matter how old I get, the arrival of Santa in town, at the mall, in parades, or wherever you can visit him, is always something exciting. Even though the holiday isn’t about Kris Kringle and gifts from the North Pole, seeing Santa is a great reminder of the happiness and joy of the season. Luckily, Jenkins Twp. will be getting a visit from Santa to celebrate the Christmas season!

From 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, Santa will be visiting for a drive-thru Christmas party at the Jenkins Twp. Fire Company parking lot, 2 Second St. The party is open to all township residents and guests up to 12 years of age. The children will all receive a gift bag from Santa, courtesy of the Plaid Community Church. They also will be eligible for prize drawings of gifts donated by township benefactors.

Registration is required by calling the township building at 570-654-3315 and leaving a phone number, along with the name, age and gender of each child attending. Registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 11.
