Happy New Year — welcome to 2021! The new year, in spite of its name, brings about “the end” in many ways. New Year’s is typically where we end the holidays, we end our calendars, and we close the proverbial book on the 365 days that just passed.
It isn’t a shocking statement to say that 2020 was a challenging year in so many way, oftentimes unprecedented ways. With all the pain and frustration that the past months have brought, it can be hard to remember that January 2021 isn’t just an ending, it’s an entirely new beginning.
People each year often talk about making New Year’s resolutions, usually a commitment to better themselves through healthy habits, hobbies and practices. For me, I simply resolve to remember to stay on the optimistic side of things. I’m hopeful that 2021 holds the positivity of much more promising days than what we just left behind as of midnight on Dec. 31.
The Pittston Twp. Ambulance Association has been generously gifted two ballistic vests from the Wyoming Area Kiwanis Club. The club has been providing these vests over the past few years to first responders in Greater Wyoming and Greater Pittston areas. Along with the vest, the Kiwanis Club also donated additional items, including major wound care materials and bandages and tourniquet supplies for gun wound and trauma victims.
These important items will all be placed into service with the PTAA, along with other items acquired through a state grant. With the Kiwanis club donation, the PTAA is pleased to report that it now has three vests per vehicle.
The Ambulance Association sends its thanks to the Kiwanis Club for its kind generosity!
