Do you ever find yourself needing to get rid of an item but aren’t quite sure what to do with it? For me, this happens most often when it comes to electronics that are older and need to be replaced, not only because I don’t know how to properly dispose of them but also because I hate to see anything go to waste — even though my old cell phones gathering dust in a drawer definitely aren’t doing anybody any good!

Luckily, there are places where old electronics are salvaged and taken apart so their parts can be used again, cutting down on waste and other negative factors. Jenkins Twp. is allowing residents to safely dispose of old electronics by hosting an electronics recycling day at the municipal building, located at 46½ Main St., Inkerman. This event, which is free for Jenkins Twp. residents, will take place from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14. As this is a no-contact event, residents must safely remain in their car while electronics are removed and properly recycled.

A complete list of acceptable items can be found on the Jenkins Twp. Facebook page.
