Halloween is just under two weeks away. I’m sure, by now, everybody knows what costume they’ll be wearing! I always tried to be creative with the costumes, usually expertly homemade by my mother, I’d wear to go trick-or-treating. I typically looked for a favorite character I could pretend to be for a few hours of fun. From Popeye to Scrooge McDuck, I like to think that I had some pretty great ideas and awesome costumes over the years.

Now is the time for the children of Pittston Twp. to get their costumes ready! The Pittston Twp. Supervisors and Recreation Board will sponsor a drive-thru Trick or Treat event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Tony Attardo Memorial Park, Bryden Street, Pittston Twp. The event will allow for compliance with health and safety guidelines. Attendees are encouraged to bring along a non-perishable food item to be donated to a local food bank.

Breast cancer fundraiser

Pittston Twp. Firefighters Association is selling Breast Cancer Awareness shirts throughout the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The shirts will cost $20 for sizes S through XL and $25 for 2XL and 3XL.

Orders can be placed by messaging the Pittston Township Firefighters Association Local 5109 IAFF page on Facebook. By contributing to this fundraiser, donating to a favorite cause, or wearing pink during this month, we can continue to show support as we work toward a cure.
