It’s a sad weekend in Duryea as we say goodbye to St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church. After 124 years of worship and service to Duryea, the church community will celebrate its final Mass at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at the church, 200 Stephenson St. This church’s congregation was so welcoming, but due to a decline in membership, its doors are closing.

I wish to thank the Rev. Carmen Bolock for his dedication and prayers for our town and for me personally. He and his wife, Pat, are wonderful people and will be missed. Thankfully, they will still be in town for a few months, but sadly the parish will not.
