The Duryea Betterment Committee’s Facebook page has certainly been busy with new content, conversations and suggestions from the community lately. Normally, the page contains information about Duryea events and betterment committee programs. Recently, however, residents have used the platform to strongly voice their concerns and frustrations about the poor conditions of some properties in town — particularly along Main Street — and what borough leaders should do to improve them to attract more businesses to town.
While the solutions to these issues are complicated and difficult to solve in Facebook postings and replies, the interaction between residents demonstrates citizens care about our town and want to make it a better place. To keep the conversation flowing on these topics and more, why not meet with like-minded citizens and pull your ideas together at the upcoming Duryea Betterment Committee meeting this week?
Duryea Betterment Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at the Duryea Municipal Building, 315 Main St. All are welcome to attend.
