Dupont Volunteer Hose Company’s 56th annual all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 2. The event will be held at the company home on Main Street. There will be eat-in dining as well as takeouts. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Tickets also will be available at the door the day of the event. Pancakes, sausage, eggs and juice will be served. The breakfast is normally held each year in March, but was postponed due to the pandemic.
Bells Across PA
The second annual celebration of Bells Across Pennsylvania will take Sunday, May 2. On that date, municipalities will have the opportunity not only to celebrate their hometown heroes who have done so much to enable their communities to prevail against the pandemic, but to honor them in concert with municipalities throughout the commonwealth. Both Holy Mother of Sorrows Church and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will together ring the church bells in honor of our hometown heroes.
Dupont Youth Baseball Organization’s opening day for T-ball is Saturday, May 8, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Little League field on Elm Street. Anyone attending opening day is reminded access to the field will only be from Elm Street due to construction on Walnut Street.
Photo day is scheduled for Saturday, May 15. Team photos will take place 30 minutes before each scheduled game.
The fifth annual chicken barbecue fundraiser will be held Saturday, June 19, at the pavilion at the Little League field. Details will be announced.

Sacred Heart news
The annual Mass and luncheon of the Sacred Heart Confraternity of Christian Mothers will be held Sunday, May 16. The rosary will be prayed prior to the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Following Mass, a luncheon will be held at noon at Lucca’s Restaurant, Taylor. Cost is $10 for current members of the confraternity and $15 for each guest. COVID restrictions will be followed. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting MaryAnn at 570-654-3239 or Martha at 570-883-0122.
Tickets for the Sacred Heart Christian Mother Spring raffle have been mailed to parish households. Four cash prizes will be drawn Sunday, May 16. Deadline for ticket returns is Wednesday, May 12.
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held in the church hall at Sacred Heart Parish on Tuesday, May 18. You can register online with the Red Cross to schedule a blood donation for that day.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the post. Commander Joseph Stefanowich will preside. Home Association will meet immediately after. Refreshments will be served after each meeting.
The VFW, in conjunction with AMVETS Post 189, will replace the American flags at Holy Mother of Sorrows and Sacred Heart cemeteries on Wednesday, May 19. Rain date is Thursday May 20. Meet at the VFW at 5:30 p.m.
Work has begun on the Walnut Street culvert and will last until late May or early June. Walnut Street will be closed between Hemlock Street and Heidi Lane.
Motorists are advised to avoid this area. Safety precautions will be in effect. Residents are reminded access to the Little League field will only be from Elm Street during construction.
Lions food distribution
The monthly food distribution sponsored by the Dupont Lions Club will be held Thursday, May 27, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish hall beginning at noon. All qualifying residents of Dupont and Suson are eligible.
