Two weeks ago, when I mentioned Avoca’s 150th-anniversary celebration would be great because people who live in Avoca know how to throw a party and have a good time, I never imagined the weekend would be such a blast! From kickball to fireworks to parades and parties, last weekend’s sesquicentennial will be long remembered.
I particularly enjoyed the parade. There were so many participants in it but more importantly, there were so many people who stood along the side of McAlpine Street and Main Street enjoying the day! As my husband, Jim; son, J.J., and I navigated the parade route with my Greater Pittston Progress cohorts, we all really enjoyed seeing so many friends in the crowd from West Avoca all the way to the borough building on Main Street. Thanks again for supporting our town!
