Senior farmers market vouchers still available
Senior farmers market vouchers are available for seniors who have not picked up their vouchers yet this year.
The voucher program, developed by the federal and state departments of agriculture, provides each eligible senior with four $6 vouchers, totalling $24, which can only be used to purchase Pennsylvania grown fresh fruits and vegetables from a participating farmers market stand.
Applications will be accepted until Friday, Sept. 24.
Seniors must turn 60 by Dec. 31, 2021; live in Luzerne or Wyoming county; and meet household total income requirements of $23,828 for one person and $32,227 for two people. Seniors residing in a facility where meals are provided, do not qualify.

Labor Day Triduum set at Oblates The Congregation of the Oblates of St. Joseph is continuing its 39th annual Labor Day Triduum (three-day spiritual preparation) honoring St. Joseph the Worker at the chapel, 1880 Route 315, Laflin. Masses will be offered at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, and Sunday, Sept. 5. Homilies will be offered during the triduum by Deacons Jim Rose, Andre Kabacinski and Alan Baranski. Devotions to St. Joseph will follow every Mass with special prayers for workers and the unemployed. A special Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6, with the Very Rev. John V. Polednak, the new diocesan vicar for clergy, as principal celebrant and homilist. Masses will be broadcast live on JMJ Catholic Radio 98.9 FM.
