Art e Fekts reopens
Art e Fekts Gallery at 71 S. Main St., Pittston, will reopen Thursday, Feb. 6, after a brief winter hiatus. Freshly repainted, the space offers original paintings, sculptures, prints and home furnishings for sale, all created by new and returning member artists.
The new Art e Fekts Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The gallery is still seeking artists to participate. Founded as a non-profit artists’ cooperative in 2018, Art e Fekts offers regional artists an opportunity to display and sell their work. Its mission is to promote art and arts education in the area.
Wyoming/West Wyoming seniors will resume their meetings at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at St. Monica’s Parish Hall on Eighth Street, West Wyoming. Yearly dues of $5 will be collected. Bakers are Helen Markert and Nancy Marcy. Birthdays for December were Marge Malarkey. January birthdays were Marion Pocceschi, Ann Kozloski and Theresa Alexander.

Exeter extends hours
for refuse payment
Exeter Borough announced it will have additional refuse payment hours from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays in February. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The stickers are in rebate period until Feb. 28. Rebate price is $150; $130 for senior citizens.

plans hoagie sale
Mount Zion Fire Department is having a pre-order hoagie sale Sunday, Feb. 23, at the station, 1394 Mt. Zion Road, Harding. Pick-up is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the station.

Mount Zion U.M. sets
soup, salad supper
Mount Zion United Methodist Church will host a soup and salad dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. The all-you-can-eat dinner costs $8 per person; $4 for kids 5 to 12. Pizza samples will be available.
Library lists activities
Play mini-golf in the library when Pittston Memorial Library hosts an adult-only golfing event and family-friendly golf Feb. 21 and Feb. 22. The adult Put & Party will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21. Tickets are $25 per person; $40 per twosome and $75 for a foursome, and includes a round of mini-golf any time during the evening, food and adult beverages, D.J. entertainment by J.J. Lombardo, raffles and more. The adult event is only open to those 21 and older. The all-ages event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. Tickets are $5 per person 5 and older and free for children under 5 and includes a lunch of hot dog, drink and snack, D.J. entertainment by J.J. Lombardo, raffles and more. The library will host life-size games of Clue. The game can be played by groups of two to six players. All ages are welcome. Time slots are available Saturday, Feb. 1; Monday, Feb. 3; Thursday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 8.
The Pittston Memorial Library is hosting an Open Mic Night on Friday, Feb. 28. Musicians, singers, poets and stand-up comedians are welcome to sign up for this 18 and older event. Deadline to sign up is Tuesday, Feb. 4. Anyone interested in performing is asked to please call the library at 570-654-9565.
The library has extended hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. The library also is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The library is closed Sundays and Wednesdays.

Tales on Tuesday, Storytime with Miss Kristin: This program features age appropriate stories, songs, activities and free play for infants, toddlers and pre-school age children. Programs include: Books and Babies, for ages newborn to 18 months, at 9:30 a.m.; Terrific Twos, for ages 18 months to 3 years, at 10:30; Preschool Pals, ages 3 to 5 years, at 11:30 a.m. Registration is required.
Grown-Up and Me: Kids 18 months to age 5 are welcome to bring their grown-up to the library for a fun story, craft and free play on Monday evenings. The program is split into two sessions with kids 18 months to 3 meeting at 5:30 p.m. and kids 3 to 5 years meeting at 6 p.m. Registration is required.
Furry Tails Reading Partners: Children can choose their favorite books to read to gentle, lovable and furry therapy dogs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the second Saturday of every month. Register by calling the library.
Building Club: Anyone ages 3 to 11 is welcome to free build whatever they would like from 4 to 5 p.m. every Monday. The library provides the Legos or Lincoln Logs and participants provide the creativity. Participants can display their creation on the library’s book shelves.

Page Turners Tween Book Club: Fourth to sixth graders who like to read for fun, talk about books, enjoy a snack and love doing crafts are invited to join Miss Noelle and Miss Kristin for this book club. Book Club: The club meets every second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. A limited number of books are available at the front desk.
Crochet Club: Beginner or advanced is welcome. The group meets from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays. Bring supplies, including a crochet hook sized I, J, or K and yarn.

Kaufer’s office offers
State Rep. Aaron Kaufer reminds residents that his office offers assistance events to veterans, persons with disabilities and small business owners each month at his office at 161 Main St., Luzerne.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the third Thursday of each month, Brian Stolarski, department service officer with the American Legion, is at the office to assist veterans, their spouses and their dependents with a range of issues including compensation, pensions, death benefits, education and health care, as well as many other veteran-related issues.
The fourth Wednesday of each month, from 2 to 5 p.m., Bob Fox, from the Center for Independent Living will be available for the Disability Advocacy Program to assist persons with disabilities, 18 and over. Fox can assist with skills training, information and referral to additional services, peer counseling, home modifications, attendant care and community integration, and deaf and autism services.
The second Thursday of each month, a counselor from the Wilkes University Small Business Development Center is available during Small Business Development Center Outreach to help existing business owners grow their business, explore new markets, plan strategically and operate with confidence. The outreach event is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kaufer also provides services to residents at local satellite offices in Exeter Twp. and Exeter Borough the third Friday of each month. Hours in Exeter Twp., at 2305 State Route 92, are 9 to 11 a.m., and in Exeter Borough, 1101 Wyoming Ave., from noon to 2 p.m.
