Cherry Blossom Festival

Committee will meet

West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in the school building at Corpus Christi Parish in West Pittston.

The group will discuss plans for next year’s festival. New committee members are welcome.

Knights of Lithuania

plan Kucios Dinner

Knights of Lithuania Council 143 will host its annual Lithuanian Kucios Dinner at noon Saturday, Dec. 9, in the church hall of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

This a traditional ethnic dinner served on Christmas Eve in Lithuania and all over the world by people of Lithuanian ancestry.

Everyone is welcome to attend the dinner.

Cost is $19 per person. Contact Janet Palladino at 570-655-4761 by Sunday, Dec. 3, for information and reservations.

Pittston Memorial Library

plans craft and book sale

Pittston Memorial Library’s sixth annual handmade holiday gift fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the John P. Cosgrove Center.

In addition to the crafters selling items, Mrs. Claus will host several story times throughout the day between 10 a.m. and noon. There also will be refreshments for sale.

During the craft sale, Friends of the Library will sponsor a book sale, offering a wide variety of books.

During the upcoming holiday season, the Pittston Library asks that patrons consider making a donation toward the library.Any donation, no matter how big or small, helps the library better serve the community.

When shopping online, consider looking at the library’s Amazon wish list and listing Pittston Memorial Library as your charity of choice through Amazon Smile.

The library will be closed the following days for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s:

Thursday, Nov. 23; Friday, Nov. 24; Monday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1. The library will have modified hours Saturday, Dec. 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 28, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 30, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Regular library hours are Monday and Thursday, noon to 7 p.m.; Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The library is closed Sunday and Wednesday.

Pearl Harbor Day

remembrance ceremony

planned in Dupont

The Dupont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909 and Greater Pittston AMVETS Post 189 will conduct Pearl Harbor Day ceremonies at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Dupont VFW Post on Main Street. The ceremony will be held outdoors by the side mural. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the VFW.

The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served after the ceremonies at the VFW Post Home.
