Pittston United Methodist Church

sponsoring theater trip

United Methodist Church of Pittston is sponsoring a bus trip to see “Songs of the Silver Screen” at the American Music Theater in Lancaster on Saturday, May 19.

Movie buffs of all ages will delight in the new, original production that pays tribute to the biggest hits from movies past and present.

Following the show, dinner is at Shady Maple Smorgasbord with time to visit the gift shop.

Cost of the trip is $100 per person and includes show, dinner, bus seat, taxes and tips. Bus leaves from the Pittston Plaza at 11 a.m.

St. John Lutheran Church lists activities

St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Missouri Synod, 7 Wood St., Pittston, announced the following activities:

Communion will be available Palm Sunday, March 25, and Easter Sunday, April 1.

Palm Sunday breakfast is March 25 after service, followed by the family Easter party from 3 to 5 p.m.

Maundy Thursday will be observed at 7 p.m. March 29 at Immanuel. Good Friday Tenebrae is March 30 with a service at 7 p.m. at the church.

Council will meet after service Sunday, April 8.

Outside of council meetings, all events are open to the public.

St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Church has gift cards available for a variety of locations and in a variety of denominations. See Mary Ann Denman or Alan Drummond after the service.

The church has a surplus of sanctuary candles available for $4 each. Contact the church and leave a message if interested in purchasing them.

Wyoming United Methodist Church

plans shepherd’s pie sale

Wyoming United Methodist Church, 376 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, is holding a shepherd’s pie sale.

Shepherd’s pies cost $6.50 each. Orders must be placed by Thursday, April 12, by calling 570-693-2821 or 570-693-0905

Pickup will be at the church from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 20.

Second Presbyterian plans

Good Friday tuna hoagie sale

The Mission Committee of Second Presbyterian Church, 143 Parsonage St., Pittston, will conduct a tuna hoagie sale Good Friday, March 30.

All proceeds will be donated to the One Great Hour of Sharing, which provides relief to those affected by natural disasters, food to the hungry, and empowers the poor and oppressed.

Hoagies are $7.25 and come with lettuce, tomato and American cheese. They will be ready for pick-up at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. March 30. Call the church office at 570-654-1411 to place an order and make arrangements for payment. If leaving a message, include name, phone number and number of hoagies.

All orders must be accompanied with payment and be submitted by Sunday, March 25.
