Church plans pork barbecue
Wyoming United Methodist Church, 376 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, will host a pork barbecue dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. The dinner is dine-in (picnic style) or takeout.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children 5 to 12. The church is handicap accessible. For information, call 570-693-2821.
St. Michael’s sets flea market and ziti dinner
St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 N. Main St., Pittston, will have its 22nd annual flea market and ziti dinner from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.
The ziti dinner will be served from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
A bake sale will be held outside Saturday.
The event will include ethnic foods, potato pancakes and traditional foods.
St. John Lutheran Church lists activities

First Baptist Church will host
Vacation Bible School
First Baptist Church of Pittston will hold a shipwrecked themed Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, to Friday, Aug. 10. The Rev. James H. Breese is pastor.
French boys choir will perform
at St. Joseph Marello Parish
The French boys choir Les Petits Chanteurs de Nogent-sur-Marne will perform at St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. The concert is free to the public. For information, contact the parish office at 570-654-6902.
This choir of 15 boys, ranging from 10 to 18 years old, is conducted by François Olivier, titular of the choir organ at the Church of St. Eustache in Paris, France. Formerly called Les Moineaux, the boys choir has been singing and touring France and throughout the world for 65 years.
The concert repertoire will include music of the 16th century, including Handel’s “Hallelujah,” and Gounod’s “Ave Maria,” as well as French folk songs. They also will sell copies of their recent CD.
Bus trip planned to Divine Mercy shrine
A bus trip to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass., will be held Friday, Oct. 5, for the Feast of St. Maria Faustina. The bus will leave the back section of the St. Maria Goretti Church parking lot at 7 a.m. and arrive back at 11 p.m.
Cost is $67 per person and includes bus and shrine fees, snacks, water and dinner. Itinerary includes a talk on St. Faustina, Eucharistic adoration, confessions, rosary, Mass, benediction and blessing of a first class relic.

U.M. Church of Pittston sets theater trips
United Methodist Church of Pittston will sponsor a bus trip Saturday, Sept. 29, to American Music Theater, Lancaster, for the Fall Doo Wop Cavalcade. Price is $118, all inclusive. Bus will leave the Pittston Plaza at 10 a.m. for the 2 p.m. show. Also, Saturday, Nov. 3, there is a trip to American Music Theater, Lancaster, for “The First Noel.” For reservations, call Cathy at 570-603-1915.
Prince of Peace plans chicken barbecue
Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge will sponsor a chicken barbecue and basket raffle from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, in the parking lot of Arcaro and Genell Restaurant, Main Street, Old Forge. The dinner is take out with some limited outside seating.
The dinner will be prepared by Arcaro and Genell and the $10 ticket price includes half a barbecue chicken, pasta salad, corn on the cob and a roll. Advanced ticket sales have closed. Walk-ins are limited.
