Avoca had its very own theater troupe in the early 1900s. In 1913, the Avoca Amateur Theatrical Cast presented “The Mountain Waif,” an original drama by Charles Townsend, published in 1892. Members of the cast, first row, from left, are John “Shoulders” McGlynn, Margaret Little, Mrs. Milo Singer, Mrs. William Lyons, George Farrell and Leo McFarland. Second row: Ed McGowan, Ed McAndrew, Thomas Osborne, Frank Clifford, John Timlin and Eban Doran. From Avoca’s centennial book, 1971.
