Alyssa Stella and Dean McKernan were united in the sacrament of marriage at St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston, on July 6, 2019, and are celebrating their first anniversary. Monsignor Sempa officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. Joseph and Lisa Stella, of Pittston. She is the granddaughter of Barbara Begliomini and the late Robert Begliomini, of West Wyoming, and the late Clare and Joseph Stella, of Pittston Twp.
The groom is the son of Toni Miraglia of Harveys Lake and John and Sandy McKernan, of Falls. He is the grandson of Tony Miraglia and the late Sonia Miraglia, of Henderson, Nev., and Rose McKernan and the late John McKernan, of Folcroft.
The bride was given in marriage by her father and chose her sister, Amanda Stella, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Alexis Begliomini, cousin of the bride; Olivia Lanza and Ella McKernan, sisters of the groom; Olivia McKernan, sister-in-law of the groom; Cara Capozucca, Kendra Yakobitis and Rachel Scanlon, close friends of the bride. Flower girls were Rita and Luciana Zangardi, cousins of the bride, and Lila Lanza, niece and godchild of the groom.
The groom chose his brother, Shane McKernan, as his best man. Groomsmen were James Lanza, brother of the groom; Joseph Stella, brother of the bride; Dominick Zangardi, cousin of the bride; Joseph Madochick, Ike VanWhy, Aaron Yankanicz and Toles Hartman, close friends of the groom. Ring bearers were Lorenzo Zangardi, cousin of the bride; Ryan McKernan, nephew of the groom, and Michael McKernan, nephew and godson of the groom.
Sylvia Mariani, aunt and godmother of the bride, and Robert Shnee, close friend of the groom, read scriptural readings. Robert Begliomini, uncle and godfather of the bride, read the prayer of the faithful.
The bride’s parents hosted a surprise engagement party for the couple at their home. The bride was honored with a bridal shower, given by her parents, at Fox Hill Country Club. The groom’s father and stepmother hosted a rehearsal dinner at Fox Hill Country Club. The bride’s parents hosted the cocktail hour and wedding reception at the Woodlands Inn and Resort.
The bride is a 2011 graduate of Pittston Area High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from King’s College and her master’s degree in education from Wilkes University. She is a first grade teacher at Pittston Area School District.
The groom is a 2011 graduate of Hazleton Area High School. He is a journeyman lineman for the I.B.E.W.
Following a honeymoon on a Caribbean cruise, the couple resides in Dallas.
